Gary Powell

Memorial services for Mr. Gary Powell, age 67, of Algood, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 12 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Powell passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. He was born June 18, 1949 in Buffalo, NY to the late Eleanor Ruth O'Neal Powell and John W. Powell of Cookeville. Gary received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University on Evansville. He worked as a Quality Manager at McCord Winn and later TRW in Cookeville until his health declined. He was a former member of the Algood Lion's Club. Gary and his family were involved with local churches including: Washington Avenue Baptist Church, Church on the Hill, and The River Community Church. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a sister Jan Ludwig. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Powell of Algood, whom he married October 13, 1973 in Joliet, IL; son, Trevor Powell of Algood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Whitney and Jeffery Williams of Cleveland, TN, Blair and Brandon Blair of Nolensville, TN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Carol Powell of Helen, GA, Jay and Patricia Powell of Rosemount, MN; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Asher, and Bryn Williams, Addison, Elizabeth, Ian and Anna Blair.
