Gary Gantenbein

November 12, 1940 — February 19, 2024

BAXTER-Graveside services and interment for Gary Ulrich Gantenbein, 83 of Silver Point, will be Wednesday, February 21 at 11 AM at Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove Community of Jackson County. Pastor Eric Vickers will officiate. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, everyone will meet at the cemetery.

Mr. Gantenbein died Monday, February 19, 2024 at his home.

He was born November 12, 1940 in Long Beach, California to the late Ulrich and Virginia Viola Higgins Gantenbein.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Tracy Cryder and a sister, Sandy Smithson.

Gary was a retired general contractor in home construction.

He enjoyed gardening, remodeling, woodworking, playing cards with "the Boys", dominos and SkipBo.

He attended Praise Cathedral Church of God in Cookeville and previously attended Madison First Assembly of God in Madison, TN. He had served as an usher at Trinity Assembly and Praise Cathedral, he and his wife served as "door greeters". He volunteered as needed to help in any capacity with any of the needs of the church. He was a servant of God.

Survivors include wife of 63 years (Married April 15, 1960) Geral "Geri" Dean Harley Gantenbein of Silver Point, sons Brian (Tina) Gantenbein of Chestnut Mound, TN, Bruce (Karen) Gantenbein of Hendersonville, sister Karen (Gary) Bierschwa of Fredericksburg, TX., brothers Richard Gantenbein of Texas and Chris (Cori) Gantenbein of Fredericksburg, TX, grandchildren; Jennifer Arnold, Garrett Cryder, Shannon Lungaro, Chris Gantenbein, Suzanne Casto, Brenna Garcia, Carlie Matlock, Ellie Gantenbein and Joey Gantenbein, step-grandchildren Taylor Cryder and Matthew Murphy, 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
