COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Mr. Garry A. Williams, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on December 15, 1939, in Cumberland County, Tennessee, Garry's life was characterized by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his love for the simple joys in life.
Garry was the cherished son of the late Haskel "Dow" Williams and Mattie "Pearl" Wilbanks Williams. His journey through life was shared with his siblings, the late Richard Dow Williams and Donnie Williams, and his sister Myra Burton. His legacy continues through his loving family, including his daughter, Kelly, and her husband Jeff Wilson of Goodlettsville, TN; his sons, Garry Williams, Jr., and his wife Amy of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Mitch and his wife Melanie Williams of Bowling Green, KY. His grandchildren, Max Wilson, Tyson Wilson, Dustin Williams, Walker Williams, Chryssa Williams, and Jacoda Williams, brought immense joy to his life, as did his great-grandchildren, Cody Shane Drywater, Johnnie Faye Allart, Collier Williams, and Campbell Williams.
After graduating from Algood School in the class of 1957, Garry proudly served his country in the United States Army. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Garry Williams & Sons trucking company. His days were often spent on the road, hauling cattle, or tending to his farm. Garry's commitment to his community was evident through his active membership at Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green, KY, where he forged many lasting friendships.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Paran Cemetery. Dr. Steve Ayers will officiate.
His family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 till 8:00 pm and again Wednesday 10 a.m, until service time at the funeral home.
Dustin Williams, Walker Williams, Max Wilson, Tyson Wilson, Jacoda Williams and Cody Shane Drywater will serve as pallbearers.
