Fred Brown

Funeral services for Fred Brown, age 94 of Cookeville, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday May 10 at Algood Family Event Center. Rev. Richard Bond and Rev. Danny Whitson will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Paran Cemetery. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until service time. Fred passed away Friday May 6, 2022 at Charter Senior Living in Cookeville. He was born April 22, 1928 in Watertown, TN to the late Johnny Maloy and Millie Lou Gibbons Brown. Fred was US Army veteran. He was a member of Paran Church and later also attended Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He formerly owned and operated a school bus service, as well as Brown's Diner in Algood. He also worked as an inspector with the TN Dept of Transportation, and later retired from Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency. He was a lifelong farmer and was quick to help others in need. He is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Johnny) Jones and Susan Maddux (Buddy Jarrell) all of Cookeville; grandson, Jeremy (Emily) Jones; and great grandchildren, Jackson and Addie Lynn Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Sue Verble Brown; son-in-law, Freddy Maddux; brothers, Millard, Hubert, Aaron, Clarence, Jared, Sam, Arthur, and Cecil Brown, and Ernest Boatman; and sister, Rettie Mae Fielder.
