DYER CHAPEL-Frankie Proffitt Meadows, born on July 3, 1933, in Cookeville TN, passed away peacefully in NHC Healthcare on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around her.
Frankie dedicated 25 years of her life as a waitress at Waffle House, where her cheerful demeanor and attention to detail earned her the affection of both regulars and coworkers alike. Additionally, she played a significant role in setting up the Rickman Flea Market, contributing not just to her community but also to the memories created there by countless visitors.
Her commitment to her faith was evident through her attendance at Colonial View Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Frankie nurtured her passions; she loved to vegetable garden and was known for her exceptional cooking and canning skills. She was known for her remarkable macaroni and cheese and fried chicken, dishes that resonated with love and comfort.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Julia White Proffitt; her devoted husband, Howard Meadows; and her siblings, Eugene Proffitt, Hulon Proffitt, Jackie Proffitt, and Sharon Allen.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Teresa) Meadows of Cookeville; her brothers, Jerry (Reba) Proffitt and Joe (Linda) Proffitt of Cookeville; her sisters, Janie (Ray) Brady of Tullahoma and Vickie Proffitt of Cookeville. Frankie leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Samantha Meadows, Rhoda Meadows, Jennifer (Kurt) Doering, and Andy (Misty) Meadows; her great-grandchildren, Alex Steel, Gabbie (Kevin) Medrano, Kaitlyn (Mason) Russell, Gracie Doering, Madison (Harrison) Osburn, Kaelan Doering, Kylie Doering, Johanna Doering, and Easten Meadows; as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Myles Medrano and Braelyn Russell.
The visitation for Frankie Meadows will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Dyer Chapel, located at 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, TN, 38501. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. Bro. Danny Hembree will officiate.
Frankie's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Frankie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, remembered not only for her culinary talents and gardening but also for the enduring love and support she offered throughout her life. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding them of the importance of kindness and family.
