Funeral services for Mr. Frank Edward Markum, age 93 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, March 11th at 11 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dodson Branch Cemetery. Bro. Mark Gaw will officiate. Mr. Markum's family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Frank went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, March 6, 2016 at NHC of Cookeville. He was born August 13, 1922 in Woodbury, TN to the late Clarence Chalmers and Zetti Pittman Markum. He attended Woodbury High School as was drafted into the military. He served his country as a member of the US Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. After completing his service, he moved to Detroit, met his wife Margaret, and began his career working as a machinist at General Motors, where he worked for 30 years. He and Margaret moved to Cookeville following his retirement in 1980. Frank was a quiet natured, Godly man who had a special love for children. He was saved and baptized in 1953 after becoming a father. He began his day with Daily Bread devotionals and Charles Stanley sermons and read his Bible in the evenings. He had been a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church for 35 years. Frank was a former member of the Cookeville Masonic Lodge F & AM #266. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Bogle, Mable Cook and Lorene Parker; and by daughter-in-law, Amy Carol Markum (mother to Emily Susan Markum and Eric David Markum listed below). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Ann Lee Markum; sons, James ‘Jim' Dale Markum and wife Susan of Vero Beach, FL and David Lee Markum and wife Lea of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Emily Susan Markum, Eric David Markum, Sarah Ellyse Markum, and Seth Aaron Markum; great grandchildren, Cole James Brandt, Jace Brandt, Cade Brandt and Sienna Markum; brothers, Ray Donald Markum and wife Jan of Manchester, TN and Mike Allmon Markum of Sparta, TN; sister, Billie Faye Young of Garden City, MI and by several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, 205 Serenity Pl, Smithville, TN 37166 and/or to the Benevolence Fund at Washington Ave Baptist Church, 1621 N Washington Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501. David Markum, Seth Markum, James Markum, Sarah Markum, Patrick McCloud and Travis Brunson will serve as pallbearers. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
