Graveside services and interment for Mary Frances Hitchcock, age 90 of Cookeville, were held Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2 PM at Brown's Mill Cemetery. Pastor Maston Jackson officiated. Her family received friends immediately following the services at the cemetery. Mrs. Hitchcock passed away Thursday morning August 5, 2021 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. She was born October 6, 1930 in Putnam County, TN to the late Harvey and Ruby Whitaker Mansell. Known as Mema, she loved her family and prayed for each one every night. She faithfully attended Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church. She enjoyed an abundance of love from her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Frances previously worked at Wilson Sporting Goods and enjoyed driving cars for Ford and Toyota with her husband, Howard. She and Howard spent many hours together finding and restoring antiques. One of her great joys was learning about and supporting missions. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and participated in their yearly WMU Conference and mission projects.She had a special talent for jewelry Christmas trees and pictures; often, presenting them as gifts for family and friends. She is survived by son, Glen (Reba) Hitchcock of Nashville; daughter, Kathy (Tracy) Daugherty of Cookeville; brother, Taylor (Christine) Mansell of Cookeville; sisters, Christine Mansell Vinson and Elnoria "Tootsie" Presley both of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Jason Hitchcock, Hannah (Thomas) Cooper, Jacky (Alice) Kimes, great grandchildren, Trey Kimes, Addie (Katie) Kimes, and great great grandchild, George Hitchcock; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Hitchcock; son, Samuel Hitchcock; brothers, Clifford, Albert, and Kenneth Mansell; sisters, Lola Flatt, Josephine Hafner, and Mildred Mansell.
