Funeral Services for Frances Bockman Gragg, age 96 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, December 30th at 3pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro Buddy Johnson will officiating. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. her famiy will receive friends Sunday from 1pm until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Gragg died Friday morning December 28, 2012 at Masters Healthcare Center. She was born October 26, 1916 in the west end of Putnam County to the late Henry Lavona and Hallie Janie Stanton Bockman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gaskel H. Gragg. Mrs. Gragg was a long time member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Mrs. Gragg was valedictorian of her graduation class at Baxter Seminary. She graduated from Buchtel College (now the University of Akron) with the highest grade point average ever recorded at the school at the time. She received a master"�s degree in English from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Gragg"�s career as a dedicated English teacher spanned 39 years. She taught 19 years at Algood High School, 10 years at Harriman High School, and 10 years at Tennessee Tech University. She is survived by cousins Garland Stanton, Eldon Stanton, Evelyn Harding, Ben Jared, and Joe Jared. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Her family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Tech University Englsih Dept. Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 5053 TTU 38505.
