Fowler Prichard

Granville Fowler Prichard, age 79 of Cookeville, passed away on Saturday afternoon May 23, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born on July 27, 1940 in the Brotherton Community of Putnam County, TN to the late Thomas Kenneth Prichard and Clara Ellis Prichard. Fowler made a profession of faith at an early age and became an ardent student of the Bible. He was a member of Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at various Freewill Baptist Churches for over 50 years. Fowler was retired from Aramark Uniform Services where he worked as a routeman for 26 years. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. His family was his pride and joy. He faithfully served his country in the Tennessee National Guard as a Corporal. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his brothers, and working in the yard and garden. Also, he enjoyed bird watching, especially purple martins. He loved to play golf and was a champion skeet shooter. His family includes his wife of 60 years, Billie Carolyn Bennett Prichard, whom he married February 6, 1960; daughter, Laura Gail Whiteaker and husband Greg Mark Whiteaker of Nashville; son, Gerald Ray Prichard and wife Rebecca Denise Prichard of Meridianville, AL; brothers, Leo Gordon Prichard and wife Mary Emogene Phy Prichard, Ben Tillman Prichard, and Lester Kenneth Prichard and wife Janell Brown Prichard all of Cookeville; sister, Roberta Ann Prichard of Cookeville; grandchildren, Justin Mark Whiteaker and wife Kaitlynn Elizabeth Jackson Whiteaker of Goodlettsville, TN, Jennifer Ellen Perron and husband Sean Jacques Perron of Jacksonville, FL, Hannah Elizabeth Prichard of Auburn, AL, and Sarah Denise Prichard of Denton, TX; great-grandchild, Chandler Bennett Perron of Jacksonville, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Roxie Wayne Gribbins and her husband, James W. Gribbins; and sister-in-law, Donna Faye Mason Prichard. Friends are invited to come by Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Monday May 25 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 26 at the church. Bro. Charles Cook, Bro. Clayton Lee, and Bro. Seth Price will officiate. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. Interment will follow the service Tuesday at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Maddux, Ronnie Stout, Mike Bilbrey, Lester Prichard, Tillman Prichard, and Dale Prichard.
