Floyd Moody

Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Otis "Babe" Moody, 91 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, September 14th at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. Pastor Myron Greer will officiate.

His family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Moody died Sunday September 10, 2023 at NHC Healthcare, Cookeville.

He was born January 25, 1932 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Joseph "Joe" and Cora Miller Moody. He was an avid fan and supported of the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Mr. Moody proudly served his country, on two different occasions, as a member of the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He served as a flight line firefighter and was promoted as a chief and retired from the Air Force as a staff sergeant.

He was a longtime, active member of New Beginning Assembly of God Church. He loved people and never missed an opportunity to tell others about the Lord. He was an avid fisherman and especially loved spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Myrtle "Joanne" Jacks; brothers, Bill, Henry, Jess, Ed and Sam Moody; and by sisters, Minnie Sharp, Sally Howerton and Ethel Goley.

He is survived by daughters, Cathy Beechboard and husband Bobby and Kim Grider, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Brian (Brandy) Beechboard, Brent (Rachel) Beechboard, Jeff (Brandi) Grider and Jason (Jenny) Grider; and by great grandchildren, Kylie, Jayden, Jaylyn, Josie, Avery and Jaxon Grider and Maddie Minnear.

Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Jaxon Grider will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
