Graveside services and entombment for Mrs. Florence Gertrude Cato, age 90 of Algood, will be held Sunday August 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Bowman will officiate, with a hymn by her dear friend, Wyman Taylor. Mrs. Cato's family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. She died Thursday August 28, 2014 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 3, 1923 in Windsor, Missouri to the late Jeff Theodore and Pearl Gladys Egbert Wilborn. After raising her three sons with the greatest of love, she worked as the office manager at her husband's Shelter Insurance Agency in Tullahoma. She also owned Modern Beauty Shop and Ye Old Trading Post Antique Shop and was a member of Tullahoma Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed making crafts and was talented at woodworking and crocheting. Upon moving to Cookeville in 1996, she had a booth at the Town Plaza Flea Market and later at the Hwy 111 Flea Market, where she and her husband developed many friendships. Mrs. Cato will be remembered for the wonderful marriage she shared with her husband and for the devotion she gave to him. Her children and family meant everything to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dempsey Willard "DW Cato; a sister, Mable Swisher; brother, Dale Wilborn; and by a nephew, Terry Cato. She is survived by her three sons and daughters in law, Mervin and Judy Cato of Kalamazoo, MI, Ronald and Shirley Cato of Tullahoma, and Michael and Yvonne Cato of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Bryan (Barbara) Cato, Lynn (Jim) Razmus and Johnathon (Rachel) Martin; four great grandchildren, Conner and Owen Razmus and Marley and Jack Martin; a sister, Helen Bush of Kansas City; niece, Jean (Bob) Belot, nephew, Jim (Yvonne) Cato and Jerry (Edna) Cato; and by special friends Vickie Polston, Wyman Taylor and Judy Reed. The family wishes to expend a special thanks to the staff of the CRMC 5th Floor North Tower and to Caris Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to their loved one.
