Faye Minnear

February 10, 1939 — September 23, 2024

DYER CHAPEL-Martha Faye Minnear, affectionately known as Faye, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on February 10, 1939, in Columbia, Tennessee, Faye touched many lives throughout her 85 years. Her life was marked by her love for her family and her passion for her career. She is survived by her children, Darin Minnear (Shelly), Tammy Daugherty (Sayler), and Jennifer Birdwell (Ronnie); her brothers, Ron Sargent and Dean Sargent (Patty); her grandchildren, Hannah Donnell (John Michael), Erika Phillips (Jake), Erin Daugherty, Megan Bragiel (Jeff), Jesse Birdwell (Sarah), and Caitlin Birdwell (Nate); as well as her great-grandchildren, Hudson, Riley J., Jude, Reilly, Scarlett, Tripp, and Boone, who will all miss visits with Granny Faye. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Maudie Carpenter Sargent; her husband, Donald Minnear; and her sisters, Marie Yandell and Nancy Lund.

Professionally, Faye was a respected real estate agent with American Way Realty in Cookeville, where she served the community for over 20 years. She made many friends with the colleagues and clients she worked with over the years, and her career was a way to connect with others and share her expertise. Faye was a meticulous notetaker and well-organized in both her work and hobbies. This was balanced with her spunky and good-humored nature; she kept her family and friends entertained and was always ready with a laugh. A lover of family gatherings, Faye was an excellent cook, and her recipes will be treasured and passed down for generations.

Her love for game shows was well-known, with "The Price is Right," "Jeopardy," and "Wheel of Fortune" being some of her favorites. Throughout the years Faye enjoyed bowling, crocheting, dabbled in painting and drawing, and could always be counted on to update her family on news and current events. Faye also had a musical side; she played piano in church, even alongside Bill Gaither in their early days living in central Indiana.

The family would like to thank NHC of Sparta for the wonderful care they gave Faye during the course of the last couple of years. They would also like to thank the ICU team at CRMC for their empathetic, professional, and attentive care during her final days.

The funeral service honoring Faye's life will be held at 12pm on Friday, September 27, at Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to visit from 10am to 12pm prior to the service. Following the service, Faye will be laid to rest at Browns Mill Cemetery.
