Funeral Services for Hilda Evelyn Stout, 91 of Double Springs, will be held Friday, August 22 at 11 A.M. from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Stout's family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Stout passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 4, 1922 in Smith County to the late George Loscoe and Bessie Waller Watts. Mrs. Stout was retired from Tutco where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and for her independent nature. She loved flowers and enjoyed being creative by sewing and crafting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William ‘Taylor' Stout. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Will (Rebecca) Stout of Edmonds, WA, Ted (Gloria) Stout of Jackson, MI; one daughter and son-in-law, Hilda Stout (David) Sparks of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Cade Stout of Magnolia, TX, Emily Stout Ferguson of Cary, NC, James Flatt (Kristie) of Bailey, AL, Meagan Stout (Jeff) Hawley of Washington, DC, Sarah Stout (Bryce) Toman of Jackson, MI; five great-grandchildren, Brent Flatt, Garrett and Grant Ferguson, Arubie Flatt and Madeline Toman; brother and sister-in-law, J.L. (Jewell) Watts of Cookeville; special aunts, Dean Hawkins and Lucille Hunter; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses, physicians and staff members at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for their special care and kindness to Mrs. Stout and her family during her hospitalization and to staff members at Cedar Hills Assisted Living. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, c/o Gail Myers-Treasurer, 1950 Leftwich Ridge Rd., Baxter, TN 38544.
