Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. McReynolds passed away Monday evening February 12, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born April 29, 1927 in Baxter, TN to the late Samuel Ethel Brown and Avo Boyd Brown. Eva dearly loved her family, was a devoted wife, and she was the consummate homemaker. With four young ones to feed three meals every day, washing to do and pin it out on the clothesline, bring it in, and iron it, it was a wonder that she found time for anything else in her life; though she did find time to grow African Violets (every table in the house had at least one pot of those beauties) and she kept them blooming all year long. The porches of the house on Dixie always had pots full of plants during the warm months. She did embroidery, stitching beautiful flowers, birds, and geometric shapes on cotton pillow case hems, napkins, and table runners. Eva loved to sing: If she had a passion for anything it was for music and singing. From singing with her parents and brother at Bethany Methodist Church as a young lady to singing along with the current country and pop melodies broadcast every day on WHUB, Eva sang. She had a beautiful voice and a natural ability to sing the harmony line on just about any song. It was a wonderful experience to hear her back up Eddie Arnold, Ray Price, Patsy Cline, or Marty Robbins on their big hit songs as they played over the radio. One of her favorite songs was Wildwood Flower. Any time her sons were together in her presence with their guitars, she had to have them play that ballad while she sang the words with a smile on her face and hands clapping in time. The one thing Eva never did was learn to drive. She said she was just too nervous to drive. That was the one regret she ever expressed, having to depend on others to get her where she needed to go. Everyone who knew Eva received her warm spirit, gentle nature, and good humor. She was beloved by her children, extended family members, and friends. She is survived by daughters, Judy Medley and Connie Susan McReynolds both of Cookeville; sons, Stanley McReynolds and Richard (Jan) McReynolds all of Cookeville; brother, Earl (Nancy) Brown of Baxter; sisters, Fay Boles of Baxter and Patricia Clark of Nashville; grandchildren, Alicia (Tim) Matheney, Rhyan McReynolds, Jason (Christa) Gooch, Richard (Regina) Medley, Catherine Medley, and Zachary T. McReynolds; and great-grandchildren, Evann & Grayson Bryant, Levie Kate McReynolds, Mack McReynolds, Ryan Emerson McReynolds, Grant Gooch, Matthew Hunter & Miles Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Winfred McReynolds; brothers, Junior Brown, Arnold Brown, Freeman Brown, Lehman Brown; and son-in-Law, Don Medley. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee, 1459 Interstate Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.
