Eulah Dowlene Watts

BAXTER CHAPEL-Eulah Dowlene Watts, a beloved resident of the Boma Community, was born on March 12, 1942, in the same cherished community where she would spend her life and career. Dowlene passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the age of 83, at The Waters in Gainesboro, TN, leaving behind a rich legacy woven into the fabric of her family and the lives she touched.

Dowlene's professional journey began with her dedication to beauty and service over a remarkable span of more than 35 years through Dowlene's Beauty Shop located in the Boma Community. Her artistry in hairdressing and her warm, welcoming spirit made her not just a stylist but a friend to many clients who cherished their time spent with her. She also owned and operated Heads or Nails Shop in Cookeville.

An accomplished and well-loved member of the community, Dowlene was an Upperman High School graduate of the Class of 1960. Beyond her career, she possessed a variety of interests, including craft shows, sewing, and tending to flowers, which exemplified her nurturing nature. She had a particular fondness for her pet dogs, whose companionship brought her endless joy. She was a member of Double Springs Church of Christ.

Dowlene is survived by her son, Jimmy Dow "Bo" (Renee) Watts of Baxter, along with her daughters, Pam (Eddie) Metzgar of Baxter, Cara Frizzell of Bloomington Springs, TN, and Joei Beth (Lee) Birdwell of Baxter. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Jared (Paula) Watts, Colton Watts, Claudia Brette (Brent) Webb, Paige Jones, Lindsey Frizzell, Lacey (Charles) Cooper, and Caleb Birdwell, and spoiling them even further by being a great-grandmother to Easton, Oaklynn, Rylan Watts, Braxton Elrod, Zoei Webb, Kade Cooper, Lola Henderson, Harper Cummings, Cash Gentry, Roman Jones, Ollie Cooper, Harlan Cooper, Salem Jones, and Chapel Jones.

Dowlene's passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of her family and the community. She is predeceased by her parents, Dow Shaw and Sobrima Roberts Maxwell, her adoring husband, Lewis Claude "Mousie" Watts, who departed on February 25, 2009, and her son-in-law, Jimmy Frizzell.
