Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel D. Stamps Williams, 94 of Cookeville will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, January 15 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Drew Shelley and Rev. Martin Thielen officiating. Interment will follow in the Paran Cemetery in Overton County. Mrs. Williams' family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 - 8 pm and again Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Williams died Monday evening, January 13, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1919 in Baxter, TN to the late Vina Lou Bohannon and Frank T. Stamps. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church and PEO. She graduated from Baxter Seminary and attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. Mrs. Williams and her husband Robert owned and operated Williams Wholesale Supply prior to their retirement. Mrs. Williams loved her family and friends. Her circle of friends enjoyed bridge card games and time spent together. She is fondly remembered for her love of Roses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sara Tucker, Leva Berry, and Alva Sue West; and five brothers, Garfield M. Stamps, Charles Stamps, T. J. Stamps, Harry Stamps, and Paul Stamps. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert Andrew Williams (whom she married May 21, 1942 in Rossville, GA); two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Deborah Williams, Roy and Diane Williams, all of Cookeville; four grandchildren, B-Bob Williams and wife Jessica, Julie-Beth Boyd and husband Brandon, Lee Williams and wife Kacy, and David Williams; six great-grandchildren, Josie Kate and Maya Williams, Will Henry, and Annie Blake Boyd, Benton and Cambell Williams, all of Cookeville; sister, Margaret Greer of Nashville; and brother, Henry Stamps of Waverly; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Stamps of Baxter; and several dear nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, B-Bob, Lee and David Williams, Brandon Boyd, Memorial contributions may be made to Paran Cemetery c/o Ann Mainord 1268 Park Drive Cookeville, TN 38501 or to Cookeville First United Methodist Church 165 East Broad Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.
