Estelle Andrews

Estelle Mattie (Featherston) Andrews passed from this earthly life and graduated to her greater reward on October 7, 2016. She passed peacefully with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born in Detroit, MI on January 12, 1931 to Winnell and Thelma Stephenson Featherston. She moved to Cookeville shortly after her birth and remained here during her childhood years. She married Owen William Andrews on November 24, 1948. Estelle moved to Norcross, GA in the early 1960s. She was one of the first employees of Scientific Atlanta. She retired in 1998 after 32 years of service and returned to Cookeville. She was known to be a unique combination of a kind, gentle, feisty soul, a very hard worker, loving wife and mother, sister and friend. She could be quiet and shy, but loved to laugh. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ all of her adult life. She enjoyed attending services regularly until her health made it impossible for her to attend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of almost 60 years, a brother, James Featherston of Tupelo, MS., also several sisters and brothers-in-law who she loved deeply. She was also preceded in death by her faithful canine companion of 17 years, Katie Mae. She is survived by one daughter Gina Andrews Babcock and son in law Jim Babcock of Cookeville; two sisters, Bonnie Foster of Gallatin, TN and Joyce Hawkins of Paragould, AR.; two grandchildren, Daniel Babcock along with fiancée Rachael Pitts of Antioch, TN and Arielle Babcock of Cookeville, TN., and multiple nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Hooper, Huddleston and Horner on Saturday October 15 at 11am. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 am until service time. Interment will be at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Joe Roberts will officiate with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
