COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Eric Thomas Mitchell, born on December 25, 1957, in Sparta, TN, passed away peacefully in Cookeville, TN, on January 19, 2025 at age 67. He was a loved father, brother, and son who leaves behind a rich legacy of love and service.
Eric had a commendable career as a parts manager, having retired from The Bailey Company after many years of loyal service. Prior to that, he contributed significantly to the agricultural industry while working for John Deere. His expertise and conscientious work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and customers.
In addition to his professional achievements, Eric proudly served as a Military Police officer in the United States Army. His commitment to serving his country exemplified his sense of duty and integrity.
Outside of work, Eric enjoyed a range of hobbies and interests. He was an avid reader with a deep passion for history and trivia, which often made him the go-to person for fun facts and engaging conversations. His inquisitive mind and charisma drew people to him, and he cherished sharing knowledge with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Hugh Mitchell and Sammie Garrett Young; his daughters, Erin Spite of Baxter, Katie Palmer of Mt. Airy, NC, and Kassidy Mitchell of Sparta; his son, Trevor Mitchell of Cookeville; his brother, Hunter Mitchell of Alabama; his sister, Megan Ratley of Cookeville; and his cherished grandchildren, Maverick Spite, Milo Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Leo Mitchell, Emma Palmer, and Nora Palmer.
Eric's kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will forever be honored in the hearts of his family and friends.
Mr. Mitchell's request for cremation are being honored and a Memorial service will take place at a later date at First United Pentecostal Church in Cookeville.
