Emma Kathryn Heitman, age 9, of Baxter, passed away suddenly Monday, July 31, 2017 at her home. She was born May 9, 2008 in Crossville, TN to Michael and Misty Chapman Heitman. Emma was a delightful and giving daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend. She always focused on the good in any circumstance and was quick to give hugs and love to others. Emma's life was on earth was short but well lived, bringing joy to those around her. In addition to her parents, Emma's family includes two brothers, Joshua and Caleb Heitman; three sisters, Hannah, Rebekah, and Lila Heitman; paternal grandparents, Fred Heitman and Kathy Sergeant of Knoxville, Nancy and Calvin Mattingley of Richmond Hill, GA; maternal grandparents, Patricia and David Smith of Pegram, TN; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth and Mike Colvin, Gary and Tiffany Roberts, Keely Smith and Garrett Smith; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Timothy Chapman. A celebration of Emma's life will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, August 4 at the River Community Church with the family receiving friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Smyrna cemetery The Heitman family invites everyone to wear Emma's favorite color green to her Celebration of Life. Also, in honor of Emma and her love of teddy bears, anyone may bring stuffed animals to the service. They will be collected and distributed throughout the community.
