Elmer Hughes

Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Hughes, age 73 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 16th at 10 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. Rev. Gary Farris will officiate. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 6, 1942 in Johnson City, TN to the late Donald and Bertha Ann Edwards Hughes. Elmer was a longtime Pacesetters resident and was well liked among his many friends and caretakers. He will be fondly remembered for always being happy and full of life. He was a loving brother to his siblings and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Hughes. He is survived by sisters, Lois Heaton of Johnson City and Estella Lewis of Cookeville; brother, Dallas Hughes and wife Gail of Greeneville, TN; and by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
