Elma Allison

October 14, 1939 — July 4, 2023

BAXTER- Elma Lea Herren Allison passed away on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Putnam County in a small cabin that is now surrounded by Center Hill Lake on October 14, 1939. She was the daughter of the late William McKinley Herren and Ova Clouse Herren. After graduating from Baxter Seminary, she began her love story with Lowell Dean Allison on May 31st, 1959, lasting 52 years upon his passing. She is survived by their two children, Penelope Dawn Tittle and husband Grady Franklin Tittle III, and Jennifer Dian Allison; their grandchildren Mason Jarett Nash, Kensley Lauren Nash McClung and husband Noah Frank McClung; and great granddaughter Fallon Rose McClung.


Elma was preceded in death by husband Dean, sisters Beatrice Denny, Winnie Lafever, Erma Maxwell, Dorthea Herren, and brother Vestle Lee Herron.


She was a retired bookkeeper from Upperman High School. Her greatest joy was becoming a nana and enjoying baking and gardening with her grandchildren.


She was a member of the Sycamore Church of Christ and grew up in the Bethlehem congregation.


There will be a private graveside service for the family Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Allison Cemetery in Baxter, TN. Brother Steve Bowman will be conducting the services.


Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tn 38105.
