Elizabeth Jean Temple

November 6, 1949 — December 10, 2023

Heaven gained a new lead singer, Elizabeth Jean Miller-Temple, affectionately known by her loved ones as Bette or BJ, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, at her home in Cookeville. Born on November 6, 1949, in Trenton, New Jersey, Bette's life was a melody of joy, compassion, and love that resonated with everyone she met.

Bette's journey through life was one of harmony and dedication. From an early age, she discovered her passion for singing and entertaining, a talent that brought light and laughter to many. Her powerful voice was not only a source of personal fulfillment but also an inspiration to those fortunate enough to hear her sing. Bette's love for music was a constant throughout her life.

Bette was a skilled medical technician specializing in phlebotomy. Her meticulous work and caring nature made her an invaluable member of the medical community. Her colleagues admired her for her professionalism and the kindness she extended to all her patients.

Bette's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Hope Church. Her spiritual life was a testament to her belief in kindness and service to others.

Family was the cornerstone of Bette's world. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Temple, whom she married on July 10, 1993. Their union was a partnership filled with love, laughter, respect, and mutual support. Bette was a cherished mother to her daughters, Dawn Siano (husband Joseph), Lorie Frank (fiance Ronnie Emamali), and her son, Kenneth W. Temple, II (Karissa Temple). Bette’s grandchildren Nikki, Aleisha, Michael, Darian, Kai, Gianna, Anthony, Anjelia, Ian, Isaiah, Aleigha, and Roman survive her, as well as her great-grandchildren Mia, Maddie, Kylie, Scarlett, Storm, Smith, and Slade.

Preceding her in death were her father, Joseph Miller, and her “like a mother” special aunt who raised her, Jean Markowitz.

Those who knew Bette will remember her for her comedic loving nature. She was very funny and compassionate, with a heart that had room for everyone, including her beloved pets. Bette's presence was a source of comfort, strength and joy to her friends and family.

A gathering to celebrate Bette's life will be held on Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home followed by light food and refreshments at Hope Church Algood, 205 W. Wall Street, Cookeville, TN.

Further services and entombment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
