Edward Dyess

Edward M. Dyess, age 91, of Cookeville, TN, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Edward was born on May 2, 1926, in Brushy Creek, Louisiana. He was raised on a farm in rural Louisiana during the depression years. In 1944, during WWII, Edward joined the Navy. In July 2, 1945, he married Betty J. Johnston during his Navy service in San Diego. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Edward always had a love of the great outdoors. Although he had different vocations, he always enjoyed growing a large garden. During the 71 years of their marriage, Edward and Betty lived in California, Minnesota, Louisiana, Texas, and most recently in Cookeville, TN. Edward's deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was evident throughout his life to his family and friends. He served the Lord for many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and many other positions of ministry in churches in California, Minnesota, Louisiana, and Texas. Edward is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (David) Carlson of Cookeville, TN; sons, David (Theresa) Dyess of El Prado, NM, and Steven (Betty) Dyess of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Mark Carlson, Kristin (Steven) Bradshaw, Rachel (John) Rollyson, and Emily (Bryan) Klepperich; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Dyess, and 11 brothers and sisters. A family service will be held Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Algood City Cemetery.
