Edith Phipps

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith "Evie" Marie Phipps, age 76 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday May 15 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro Mike Adams and Bro. Harold Walker will officiate. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Edith passed away Monday morning May 11, 2020 at her home. She was born September 21, 1943 in Cookeville to the late Walter and Jewell Flatt Hall. Edith was a member of Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for 45+ years with the phone service, starting as an operator with GTE. She is survived by her husband, Junior Clayton Phipps, whom she married October 9, 1988; sister, Mary John (Ralph) Chaffin of Cookeville; brother, William (Cathy) Hall of Springer, OK; nieces, Karen (John) Adkins and Amy Hall; nephews, Johnny (Susan) Chaffin, and Jimmy (Elaine) Chaffin; and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Baker, John Adkins, Jimmy Chaffin, Johnny Chaffin, Josh Johnson, Wayne Crossman, Brandon Wilmoth, and Kenny Wilmoth. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, 4825 Buck Mountain Rd, Cookeville, TN 38506. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
