Funeral services for Mr. Carl Edward (Eddie) Jared, age 70, of Sparta, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Dyer Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Womack officiating. Interment will follow at the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls community of Putnam County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Mr. Jared passed away suddenly, Monday afternoon, January 30, 2017 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born January 26, 1947 in Putnam County, TN to the late Albert and Odell Haney Jared. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristie Dawn Mathews; and brother, David Jared. Mr. Jared was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War and member of the American Legion Post 99 of Sparta. He was a member and served as deacon at Freedom Baptist Church. Mr. Jared was a retired heavy equipment operator with the TN Department of Transportation with over 20 years of service. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved by his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Carter Jared, whom he married February 10, 1968; daughter, Jamie French of Sparta; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Nancy Jared, Mike Jared all of Cookeville, Wayne and Sandra Jared of Smithville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Wassom of Livingston, Nancy and Randall Whiteaker of Algood; and two grandchildren, Cody Mathews of Long Island, NY and Sienna Mathews of Sparta. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lafever, Tim Jared, Terry Jared, David Jared, Jerry Dale Jared, and Randy Whiteaker. Fly High Papa Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-7158.
