Baxter-Funeral services for Charles Edward Stewart, age 86, of Cookeville, will be on Saturday February 22 at 11 a.m. in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Davis will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Tightfit Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Mr. Stewart passed away at Beaumont Hospital (Dearborn campus) on Thursday evening, February 13, 2020. Born on September 12, 1933 to Daniel Boone Stewart and Tennie Phillips, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. Retiring after many years as a union representative with International Union of United Automotive Workers, Charles lived in Florida until 2002, moving back to his birth state of Tennessee following the death of his wife, Patricia Ouellette Stewart. In his spare time, he enjoyed being handy around the home and also spending time with his family. His family includes his daughter, Terry (Jerry) Ruble of Belleville; sisters, Jean Fee of Michigan, Barbara (Wesley) Starnes of Baxter; brother, Warren (Pam) Stewart of Cookeville; grandchildren Erin Turner of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Kelly Turner of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and Chase Stewart of Texas; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Gorski and Willow Ward and many loving extended family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Dan Stewart; two sisters, Kathleen Frigon and Elberta Briggs; and brother, I. D. Stewart.
