Funeral services for Mr. Percey Edward Kimbrough, 88 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday April 18th at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Roberts and Bro. Mike Palk will officiate. Interment with military honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Kimbrough's family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Born to Percey Edward Kimbrough Sr. and Frances Freeman on July 12, 1926, in Atlanta Georgia, Mr. Kimbrough completed this earthly journey on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his home in Cookeville, TN. Mr. Kimbrough graduated from Howard High School in Nashville. After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. He later began a career with the WT Grant Company, eventually retiring as manager. Upon moving to Cookeville in 1984, he opened Kimbrough's Appliance. In the spirit of serving others, Mr. Ed was the superintendent at Tennessee Children's Home, volunteered his services as a member of the Veteran's Honor Guard, and was known for his card ministry at his home church of Collegeside Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena (Jan. 18, 2010), brothers, Robert Kimbrough, Charles Kimbrough and sisters, Frances Rothaar and Martha McDaniel. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Christy of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny & Brenda Kimbrough of Cookeville; grandchildren, Anna Christy of Cookeville, Amy Chaffin (Byron) of Dunlap, TN, Jenna Britt (Bryan) of Jackson, TN and David Kimbrough (Becky) of Hendersonville, TN; great-grandchildren, Abby Britt, Nathan Britt, Logan Chaffin, Annabelle Chaffin, & Molly Kimbrough; brother, James Kimbrough of Franklin, TN; sisters, Bettye Foster (Craig) of Lexington, KY and Sarah Pyles of Titusville, FL. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Collegeside Church of Christ Food Pantry (252 E. 9th St., Cookeville, TN 38501).
