Ed Cole

Funeral services for James Edward Cole, age 72 of Sparta, will be at 1 p.m. Friday January 14 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Maston Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow at Dobbs Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Ed passed away suddenly Monday evening January 10, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1949 in White County, TN to the late Marion and Ada Mae Sparks Cole. Ed was a member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving in different capacities. He retired from Kern's Bread Company, and after retirement served in the office of the White County Sheriff's Department. Ed loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy Long Cole, whom he married July 9, 1971; son, Eddie (Mandy) Cole; daughter, Sherry (Derrick) Anderson, both of Sparta; brother, William (Sharon) Cole of Cookeville; sisters, Juanita (Steve) Tollison of Sparta, and Lea (Winnell) Hickey of Baxter; grandchildren, Alyssa Cole, Caleb (Lauren) Anderson, Kaylie (Caleb) Roberts, and Keena Anderson; honorary grandson, Josh Simmons; and one great grandchild to be born soon, Anderson Lane Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Edwards Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
