Funeral services for Mr. William Earl Harris, 86 of Cookeville, will be held Monday October 14 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Mr. Harris died Friday afternoon October 11, 2013 at his home. He was born November 9, 1926 in Algood, Tennessee to the late William Austin and Rebecca Jene Seagraves Harris. He was a member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church. In 1986 Earl retired from Woodford Motor Company as a Master Mechanic with over 27 years of service. He continued to service family and friends automobiles and was called regularly by many former customers for his advice and wisdom on automobiles. Earl was proud to be a subscriber to the Herald-Citizen for over 53 years (he first subscribed to the Citizen, then the Herald). Earl was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Lively Harris; son, Mark Douglas Harris; three sisters, Loraine Harris, Christine Taylor, and Irene Tate; and his brother, James Harris. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Harris and Gene and Sheril Harris all of Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Terry and David Kuske of Goodlettsville, TN; 13-grandchildren; 14-great grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Muriel and Elsie Harris of Morrison, TN. Earl's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Harris family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
