Duck Delaney

Funeral services for Dillard 'Duck' Delaney, age 84, of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 12 at Dyer Funeral Home with Bro.Clayton Lee, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Delaney passed away Friday, February 9, 2017 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1932 in Putnam County, TN to the late Byrd and Alice Delaney. Dillard was a US Army veteran. He was a blessing to his family and best friend to many. He was a talented Banjo player and teacher of music and life. He was a great husband, father, and Pa, who was always ready to help others. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jo Harris Delaney; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Delaney, Scott and Della Delaney, John and Minti Parrett; daughter and son-in-law Machelle and Randy Stewart; brother, Bill Delaney; sister, Sue Dyer all of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Zac Stewart, Taylor Delaney, Jake Delaney, Amy Kinnaired, and Kimberly Bruce; three great-grandchildren, Liam Bruce, Shayla Kinnaird, and Jayden Jaynes.
