Duane Crapo

January 11, 2021 — November 27, 2021

Our beloved, Duane Alan Crapo, 79, of Cookeville, Tennessee, went home to be with our Lord Jesus, on Saturday, November 27, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside at the cemetery. Mr. Crapo was born January 11, 1942, in Hillsdale, Michigan, to the late Harold & Marguerite Brakefield Crapo. He grew up in Allen, Michigan. He enjoyed a full life, marrying his high school sweetheart and having a career with General Telephone Company. He eventually retired from G.T.E. after 38 years with many recognitions. Duane loved playing the drums and was the drummer for the Comets in the 60’s and early 70’s. He enjoyed golfing, racing and all types of sports. His family always knew they were his greatest joy, especially his grandchildren. He was the most encouraging, supportive, and loving Husband, Father and Papas. He meant everything to his family. He is survived by the love of his life of 61 years, Denise Vogel Crapo of Cookeville, Tennessee; his daughters: Sarah & Lamar Hall and Julie Parker, all of Fitzgerald; a son, John Crapo; seven grandchildren: Heather Bertrand, Adam Bertrand, Montana & Justin Nicolelli, Oliver Merritt, Zachary & Amber Parker, Matt Parker and Rachel Parker; four great-grandchildren: Gracelyn Seeley, Jackson Bertrand, McKenna Parker and Olivia Parker and two sisters: Arlene Hurley and Nancy Swallow, both of Allen, Michigan. Many much-loved nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Merton Crapo and a sister Norene Ganger and a much-loved son-in-law, Tim Parker. “God’s ways are higher than our ways. His grace is sufficient.” The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to the Arbor Baptist Church Building Fund, 1137 North Merrimac Drive Extension, Fitzgerald, GA 31750 or to Gideons International, Ben Hill-Irwin Camp, P O Box 752, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
