Dr. Joe Floyd

Joe M. Floyd, age 90 of Cookeville, passed away Sunday March 12, 2023 at NHC of Cookeville.

He was born December 6, 1932 in Ada, OK, to the late Furman and Estelle Martin Floyd.

Joe served in the Oklahoma National Guard, Company "C", 180th Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division. He was veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a purple heart recipient.

He received his Bachelor of Art degree from East Central State University in Ada, OK, Master of Arts degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, and Doctorate in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M in College Station, TX. He was a Professor Emeritus at Tennessee Tech University.

He is survived by son, J. Michael Floyd; son-in-law, Garland B. Presswood; and granddaughter, Lizbeth Ashley Hill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, V. LaVerne Floyd; and daughter, Cindy Floyd-Hill.

Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday March 21 at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
