Doyle Burton

Funeral services for Mr. Doyle Stephen Burton, age 87, of Algood, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 9 at Algood Family Event Center, 124 1st Avenue, Algood, TN with Rev. Richard Bond officiating. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m - 1 p.m. Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM will hold a Masonic Service at 12:45 p.m. Monday. Mr. Burton passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. He was born October 11, 1929 in Putnam County, TN to the late Stephen Decatur (SD) and Della Louise Oxford Burton. Mr. Burton was a member of Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church and member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM. He was retired from the TN National Guard. He was formerly employed at Wilson Sporting Goods and was a retired agent with Aflac Insurance. Mr. Burton enjoyed the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a founding member of the Putnam Rod and Gun Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Burton. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Treva Maynard Burton, whom he married December 23, 1983 in Cookeville; brother, Wayne Burton of Cookeville, sister-in-law, Elaine Burton of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 107 East Main Street, Algood, TN 38506.
