BAXTER-Harvey Douglas "Doug" Thomas, 67 of Algood, formerly of Baxter, died suddenly Wednesday December 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. His wishes of cremation are being honored and a private family service will be held at Lafever Family Cemetery in the Cherry Hill Community of DeKalb County, TN at a later date. He was born November 15, 1952 in Cookeville to Willie Jo Lafever Thomas of Algood and the late Harvey D. Thomas. He was a 1970 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. He was a partner with Thomas & Thomas Attorneys at Law in Cookeville. He was instrumental in the fight to save Radnor Lake in Nashville, he worked to preserve and protect lands also in and around the Upper Cumberland Area. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying nature's beauty. He was a generous and kind person. Survivors in addition to his mother include, sisters and a brother-in-law Gloria Kay and Robert Evans of Nashville, Charlotte Thomas of Algood, niece Robin Evans of Nashville, many cousins and extended family. A place for memorial contributions to be made in Doug's memory will be added as soon as that information is available.
