Funeral services for Dorothy Lucile McDonald, age 95 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Monday September 27 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home, 59 N Jefferson Avenue, Cookeville, TN. Rev. TJ Bennett will officiate. Entombment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Dorothy passed away Saturday September 18, 2021 at Life Care Center of Sparta. She was born December 2, 1925 in Syracuse, NY to the late Charles Warren Harmer and Gerturde Edna Christman Harmer. Dorothy graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. She married Doyle McDonald in February 3, 1951 in Dearborn, MI. Dorothy was employed, as a supervisor, at Graybar Electric Supply in Detroit, MI and retired after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 215 Rockford, MI. After moving to Cookeville in 1977, she continued to lead a vibrant and active life, spending extensive time in genealogy and working with her husband in their woodworking projects. She was a member of Baxter First United Methodist Church and member of the Upper Cumberland Genealogy Association. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Ila Yeo of Georgetown, TX, Dennis (Jay Ann) McDonald of Kalkaska, MI, Aaron (Cindy) McDonald of Howell, MI, David (Jackie) McDonald of Hemlock, MI and Bruce (Beverly) McDonald of Fallbrook, CA; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle McDonald; and niece Connie Phillips.
