Dorothy M. Reed

Funeral services for Dorothy M. Reed, age 76, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, December 20 2009, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 19, from 4-8 p.m. at the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Reed died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1933, in Sevier County TN to the late Thomas E. McCarter and Alva Della Huskey. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith and a loving mother and homemaker. She also spent many years in the restaurant business, and was a valuable asset to Buckeye Septic Tank Service. Her family includes her husband, Earl Reed; one son, Randall Walter Reed and his wife Amanda of Cookeville; one step son, Earl Burton Reed and his wife Mona of Sparta; three sisters, Sarah K. Clabo and Edna Myers, both of Pigeon Forge, and Blanch Clabo of Gattlinburg. Dorothy is also survived by grandchildren, Thomas Dakota Reed, Montana Ray Reed, Randi Brooklyn Reed, Christina Marie Collins and Amanda Nichole Skidmore; Athena Dewitt. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; Devon, Chase, Nathan, Robert, Christian, Faith. and Parke,Samatha,and Emily. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sandra Gail Reed; three sisters, Iva Lee Wright, Harriet Proffitt, and Georgia H. Cole.
