Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy "D-Dot" Jean Kendall, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, June 29 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Dorothy's family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Kendall died Friday June 26, 2015 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 29, 1933 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Benjamin and Lula Dickson Blankenship. Dorothy, a life-long member of the Church of Christ, was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ for over 48 years. She and her late husband, Lewis Kendall were founders of Lakeland Electric Company in Cookeville. Dorothy graduated from Jackson County High School and was a long-time member of Cookeville Junior Women's Club. She loved playing Tennis and Bridge along with shopping with her granddaughter. She was a very special wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Kendall; daughter, Karen Kendall Davidson; daughter-in-law, Debe Jo Kendall; three sisters, Gladys Huffines, Estelle Cox, and Hilda Mae Hudson; and two brothers, Junior Blankenship and Bonnell Blankenship. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jan Kendall; granddaughter, Macie Bette Kendall all of Cookeville; sister, Christine Donoho of Lafayette, TN and several nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Lakeland Electric Company. Active Pallbearers will be Gary Carwile, Rocky Davidson, Lanny Hudson, Joe Hudson, Prentice Hudson, Bobby Moore, Paul Throgmorton, Jamie Collier, Jimmy Cox, and Dennis Smith.
