BAXTER-Funeral services for Donnie Gene Maxwell, 66 of Baxter, will be Thursday, October 18 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Donnie died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born February 15, 1952 in Putnam County to the late Nealy William and Georgia Coffelt Maxwell. He was a 1970 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. He served six years in the Army National Guard. He was a truck mechanic for Russell Stover Candies in Cookeville. He owned and operated Maxwell Mobil and Texaco in Baxter for 19 years and has been a dairy farmer for the past 17 years. He was a hard worker. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 47 years (Married March 13, 1971) Carolyn Shores Maxwell of Baxter, son Donnie Ray Maxwell and his fiancée Sarah Friesel and her children: Deborah and Bernie Friesel, sister Barbara (Joe) Jared of Cookeville, brother David (Linda) Maxwell of Gainesboro, granddaughter Britney RaeAnn Maxwell. Bro. Carl Halfacre will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
