Donna Sue Sherrell

BAXTER – Public graveside service for Donna Sue Sherrell, 60 of Baxter, will be Thursday, December 31 at 1PM at Odd Fellows Cemetery. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home due to COVID-19 social distancing measures in place. Ms. Sherrell passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was born December 1, 1960 in Gallatin, TN to James “Jim” T. Sherrell of Baxter and the late Lois Leftwich Sherrell. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law William “Bill” Cecil Matheney. Survivors in addition to her father include: sister Judy Matheney of Hixson, brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Donna K. Sherrell of Auburntown; nieces and nephews: Clay Sherrell and Dusty Clark both of Baxter, Josh (Felicia) Matheney of Ft. Worth, TX and David (Taylor) Matheney of Chattanooga; great nieces: Lexy, Kaylee and Chloe Clark and Bailey Matheney. Donna was a 1979 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a Master’s degree in Education. Later, she received an EDS degree in Instructional Leadership. She was employed with Putnam County VITAL Office as an EPSO Specialist with 23 total years of service in the Putnam County School system. Additionally she was a UHS Cheerleader Coach and May Day Coordinator for many years. Donna’s talents were many; she enjoyed doing crafts and making special gifts for family and friends, as well as, a love for traveling including international trips with high school students along with many teacher friends. She was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odd Fellows Cemetery Fund c/o P.O.
