Donna Marie Gray Adams

Donna Marie Gray (Adams) of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away at 75 years old February 21, 2023. Donna was born October 15, 1947 in New London, Connecticut, was a member of Second Baptist Church in North Stonington, CT, and graduated from Stonington High School. She retired from nursing in 2012, eventually relocating to Tennessee.

Aside from being a devout Christian, adoring daughter, loyal sister, devoted wife, selfless mother and cherished Grammie and Gigi, Donna devoted her life to love and service. She mentored young adults through church and local programs, as well as opening her heart and home to anyone who needed a place of love and comfort. In the process, she became known as “mom” to many who will dearly miss her.

Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert D. Adams and parents, Jared R. A. and Nora E. (Alger) Gray III. She leaves behind her adoring son and daughter-in-law Kendall and Patricia Adams (Uncasville, CT) and daughter Heidi Adams and life partner Danny Riggsbee (Cookeville, TN); six grandchildren - Brianna Easterly, Tyler Adams, Travis Adams, Zachary Adams and fiancé Taylor Goudreau, Adam and Mia Smith, and Chase Adams; two great-grandchildren - Nora and Jack Easterly; as well as seven brothers and sisters - Cheryl (Bill) Ellis, Barbara (Grant) Vondersaar, Robin (Dean) Martin, Jared (Sue) Gray IV, George Gray and Michael (Kim) Gray. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

A private memorial and celebration of life will take place March 2nd and 3rd in Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following charities which Donna so dearly supported: pawshumane.org, DAV.org or looseendsproject.org.
