Dolores West

Dolores West was born on June 18, 1958, to George F. and Mildred E. Raines at the old Lady Anne Hospital in Livingston, Tennessee. Her father preached at the Celina Church of Christ at that time. While living in Newton, Mississippi, Dolores graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Newton High School in 1976. She received her A.A Degree in Elementary Education summa cum laude from Freed-Hardeman University in 1977. After receiving her A.A. degree she married Charlie West on her birthday at the Red Walnut Church of Christ in Scotts Hill, Tennessee. Charlie was serving as associate minister there until graduation. Dolores graduated with a B.A. Degree from the University of South Florida in 1979 with highest academic honors in St. Petersburg, Florida. On July 30, 1980, they welcomed their son, David West into the world at the Jackson County Hospital in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He has continued to live at home with his parents. Dolores worked as a minister’s wife, mother, an elementary school teacher, sewing machine operator, and a tax professional and instructor for an H & R Block franchise in Gainesboro, TN. In 1992, Dolores purchased the H & R Block franchise in Celina, Tennessee. She spent the next thirty years operating that franchise. She studied and became an IRS Enrolled agent for over twenty-six years. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Chapter of the National Association of Tax Professionals. Dolores passed away after an extended illness and massive stroke on March 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mildred Raines and her grandmother, Ruth Doughty. She is survived by her husband Charlie and son David. Many other family members, brethren, friends, co-workers, and customers also survive. Memorial contributions may be made to assist in ministering to the people of Ukraine thru a ministry of Winfield Church of Christ, c/o Mark Posey, P.O. Box 730 Winfield, AL 35594. The visitation and funeral service celebrating Dolores’ life will be held at the Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home located at 59 North Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville, Tennessee. The Schedule for the visitation and funeral service is as follows: Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Kenny Westmoreland and Edward Anderson officiating. Graveside services will follow with Dwight Fuqua officiating at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
