Dolores Dockery

Funeral services for Mrs. Dolores Vivian Dockery, age 91 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, July 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Washington Ave. Baptist Church. Bro. Mark Gaw will officiate. Interment will follow in Dodson Branch Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be observed. Mrs. Dockery died Thursday evening, July 16, 2020 at Bailey Manor. She was born June 2, 1929 in Huntington Beach, CA to the late Lester and Lillian Johnson Hawkins. Tennessee was always home for Dolores as she was a graduate of Jackson County High School and attended and taught Sunday School at Dodson Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Dolores worked as a sales clerk in her son's jewelry store, Laverne and Janet's, for over 40 years. Her warm, friendly and outgoing nature endeared her to her many customer friends. She has also been a member of Washington Ave Baptist Church since 1980. She loved her family dearly and will be remembered for the sacrificial love she displayed to them. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dockery was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Dockery; sister, Bonnie Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Bernie DeLaune. She is survived by sons, Bruce (Teresa) Dockery and Larry Dockery; all of Cookeville; grandchildren, David Dockery, Diana Dockery, Laura (Justin) Cercone, Heather (Jon) Gerfen and Melissa Dockery, great grandchildren, Alex Harris and Emma Cercone; sister, Wanda DeLaune of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Jim (Barbara) Hawkins of Cookeville; and by brother-in-law, Zina Mitchell of Nashville.
