Funeral services for Vera "Dolly"� Thomas Rayfield, 96 of Cookeville and formerly of Sylacauga, AL will be held Thursday November 17 at 4 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Dr. Randall Adkission and Rev. Charles Hutchinson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at ll a.m. Friday November 18 at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, Al with Rev. Charles Hutchinson officiating. Mrs. Rayfield went home to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday evening November 15, 2011. She was born November 30, 1914 to the late Steve Lewis and Alma Lambert Thomas. She was a retired payroll clerk with Georgia Marble Company in Sylacauga. While living in Alabama she was a very active member of Bethany Methodist Church in Stewartville, AL. After retirement she moved to Tennessee to be with her daughter and son-in-law. She became a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher for years and active in all First Baptist Church Senior ministries. She was a volunteer in the clothes closet for Putnam County Clearing House; the Cookeville Pregnancy Clinic; a volunteer at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for over 14 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Rayfield Sr (whom she married February 21, 1936); sister, Era Thomas Littleton; two brothers, Lewis S. Thomas and James T. Thomas; she was also preceded in death by her husband"�s three children to whom she was a very close step-mom, Mildred Rayfield House, James (William) Rayfield, and Thomas Jefferson Rayfield. She leaves her daughter, Janice Rayfield Allen and son-in-law, Bob Allen of Cookeville; 12-grandchildren including Donna (Scott) Francis, Janet (Kevin) Bowling, and Eric Allen all of Cookeville; 21-great-grandchildren including Sean Bowling, Wesley Bowling, Carson Bowling, and James Francis all of Cookeville; 17 great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Margaret Rayfield of Union Springs, AL and Martha Jo Rayfield of Sylacauga, AL. Mrs. Rayfield"�s family will receive friends only on Thursday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cookeville Pregnancy Clinic 694 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary One Medical Center Blvd., or Heart of the Cumberland PO Box 2474 all of Cookeville, TN 38501. Pallbearers will be Eric Allen, Kevin Bowling, Sean Bowling, Wesley Bowling, Carson Bowling, Scott Francis and James Francis.
