"Ditty" Vaden

Funeral services for Mr. Vernon "Ditty" Vaden, 91 of Murfreesboro and formerly of Donelson and Monterey, will be held Monday January 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home in Donelson. Interment, with Military Honors will follow in Whitaker Cemetery in Monterey. Bro. Carl N. Price and Bro. Keith Cameron will officiate. Mr. Vaden died Friday morning December 30, 2016 in Murfreesboro. He was born July 11, 1925 in Monterey to the late Wirt Hathen "Hack" and Epsie Pearl Ledbetter Vaden. He was a member and former Deacon of Lakewood Baptist Church in Nashville and a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Ditty was the former owner of Monterey Plumbing and Electric; a retired salesman with Metropolitan Refinery Company; and worked several years with ADT. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Ann Phillips Vaden; son Phillip Vaden; sister, Lucy England,and two brothers, Jake and Buddy Vaden. Survivors include his wife, Laura Thompson Vaden; daughter, Jan (Greg) Vaden of Jefferson City; sons, Michael (Claudia) Vaden of Tullahoma, and Patrick (Patricia) Vaden of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; four brothers, McGill (Maxine) Vaden of Oak Ridge, Larry (Fran) Vaden of Donelson, Ted (Ann) Vaden of Monterey, and Tommy (Serrena) Vaden of Donelson.
