Dewey Cooper

Funeral services for Dewey Jr. Cooper, age 74, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Dyer Funeral Home. Kerry Higgins will officiate. Interment with military honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow at West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. His family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 precautions, everyone is asked to wear a mask and social distance. Mr. Cooper passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home. He was born January 7, 1946 in Cookeville, TN to the late Dewey Lee Cooper and Winnie Lee Clouse Cooper. He was a 1963 graduate of Upperman High School. He served his country in the United States Army and for 26 years in the National Guard. Dewey worked in various capacities at Fleetguard for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a longtime union representative at Fleetguard as well. He was also a regular customer at the Waffle House on Willow Avenue. He has attended Taylors Seminary Church since 2012. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Elenora "Anne" Cooper; and by brothers, Dean Cooper and Norman Lee Cooper. He is survived by sons, Robert Cooper and James Cooper; grandsons, Shawn Cooper (fiance Alyssa Ayers), Stephen Cooper and Michael Cooper; great grandson, Anderson Cooper; brothers, Jacky Cooper, Billy Ray (Mickey) Cooper; and by sisters, Nancy Hale and Rita Hale. Pallbearers will be James Hale, Matthew Cooper, Nathaniel Stults, Tyson Hale, Chris Hale and Charles Doss. Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
