Dewey Bowman

Funeral services for Dewey Wayne Bowman, 75 of Cookeville will be Sunday, March 27 at 2 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate. Mr. Bowman died Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at his home. He was born February 14, 1947 in Putnam County to the late Russell and Ollie Blaylock Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Dale Jones, brothers Kenneth Bowman and Jeff Bowman, sisters-in-law Tommie Sutton Campbell and Kaye Bowman, brothers-in-law Eddie Ray Sutton and Herb Campbell, nephew Dustin Rush, in-laws Ed and Rose Sutton. He was a truck driver for over 43 years, retiring from Short Fuse Trucking in Hartsville. His handle on the CB radio was "Redbird". Dewey enjoyed keeping his trucks shined up and working in the yard. He was a member of Holladay Church of Christ. Survivors include wife of 42 years (Married November 21, 1979) Janice Sutton Bowman of Cookeville daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Alan Hawkins of Algood, son and daughter-in-law Steven and Tricia Jones of Orlando, FL, sisters Marie (Bob) Amonette of Algood, Glenda (Roger) Meredith of Murfreesboro, Vicki Rush and Amos Bumbalough of Rickman, sisters-in-law Lisa Bowman and Peggy Sutton, grandchildren: Levi Jones, Joseph Jones, Hunter Harville, Holden Harville, Haley Jones and Breece Jones, great-grandchildren: Rylan, Bentley, Justin, Travis, Addy, Victoria, Novella, Nina, Amilla, Hallie and Isabella, special granddaughter Jasmine. Serving as Pallbearers will be Andy Bowman, Casey Bowman, Russell Rush, Jeffery Bowman, Josh Bowman, Emily Bowman and Whitney Meredith.
