Deuel White, a cherished pillar of the Cookeville community, passed away peacefully at his home on February 20, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on May 18, 1935, in Clay County, Tennessee, Deuel's life was marked by his unwavering faith, creative spirit, and dedication to his family.
Deuel attended and graduated from the Algood High School in 1956. His passion for capturing life's moments led him to establish Deuel's Photography in Cookeville, a business he owned and operated with distinction for 47 years. His artistic eye and warm personality made him a favorite among the residents, preserving their cherished memories through his lens.
A man of deep faith, Deuel was a long-standing member of the Algood Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for many years. His commitment to his church community was a testament to his faith-filled life, and he touched the lives of many through his spiritual leadership and guidance. Deuel's involvement in his community extended beyond the church. He was a dedicated member of the Civitan Club for many years, where he contributed to various service projects and initiatives. His leadership skills shone brightly as he served as the past president of the Southeastern Photography Association, where he mentored many and helped advance the craft he so loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Faye Bowman White, his devoted daughter, Angie Crawford and her husband Derek, his adoring granddaughter, Stacie Rothfus and her husband Jondan, and his treasured great-grandchildren, Eden, Anna, and Isaiah Rothfus. Deuel's role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was filled with love, guidance, and the creation of countless joyful memories.
An avid traveler, Deuel enjoyed the adventures he embarked on with his camper, exploring the beauty of the country with Barbara by his side. His interest in woodworking showcased his creative talents, as he crafted beautiful pieces that were both functional and artistic. Those who knew Deuel would describe him as loving and faith-filled.. His presence brought light and warmth to every room, and his legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his faith. Deuel's life was a beautiful portrait of love and service, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for generations to come, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who walk the paths he once did.
As we bid farewell to Deuel White, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose and joy. His journey on earth may have concluded, but the memories he created and the love he shared will endure forever.
Funeral Services for Mr. White will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Algood Church of Christ. John Chowning and David Dalton will officiate. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Hooper, Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00pm, and again on Thursday from 9:30 until time of service at Algood Church of Christ.
Kenny Bowman, Mike Bowman, Ron Brown, Adam Swallows, William Verble and Jere Whitson will serve as Pallbearers.
Deuel's family extends their appreciation to caregiver Charlene Bellis and Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and support.
