COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Derrick Paul Borchardt II, born on January 21, 2003, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, left us too soon on March 28, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 22. A cherished individual, Derrick was known for his warm spirit and zest for life. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Derrick grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he attended Cookeville High School. In recent years, he embarked on a career in construction with House Smart Construction Company. His dedication and hard work in the field demonstrated his strong character and drive.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Derrick enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature and friends. He had a passion for smoking meat on the barbecue, a love for fast cars and motorcycles, playing lacrosse, and found excitement in shooting guns. Derrick cherished the simple pleasures of bonfires with friends, as well as mudding and ATV riding, which were activities that fostered cherished memories and bonds.
He is survived by his loving family, including his mother, Amber Moretti Borchardt of Cookeville; his father, Derrick Paul Borchardt of Cookeville; his brother, Justin Buchanan of Cookeville; his sister, Alexis Borchardt of Cookeville; his maternal grandfather, Mark (Sandy) Moretti of Grimes, Iowa; his maternal grandmother, Michele (Mitch) Behm of Watertown, Wisconsin; his paternal grandmother, Cindy Richter of Watertown, Wisconsin; his great-grandmother, Darlene Justin of Watertown, Wisconsin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Derrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bob Borchardt and his maternal great-grandfather Gerald Justin, who will undoubtedly be watching over him along with many others.
A Memorial service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 2PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Immediately following the memorial service, the family will have a Celebration of Life at the Waterloo Venue & Events located at 145 Virgil Murphy Circle, Cookeville, TN 38506.
