Dennis James Shellnut

Funeral services for Dennis James Shellnut, 59, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at One-Eleven Fellowship Church. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 8, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Mr. Shellnut died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1950, in Michigan to Eunice Avenell Adams of Cookeville and the late James Elmer Shellnut. Mr. Shellnut was an inspector for the George Mitchell Co. He attended One-Eleven Fellowship. In addition to his mother, his family includes his fiancee, Barbara Schocke; a daughter, Venus Elaine Metten of Louisville; three brothers, John and Chuck Adams, both of Cookeville, and Lonnie Shellnut of Texas; three sisters, Brenda Morlock of Florida, Bonnie Leveque of Cookeville and Cindy Shellnut of Indiana; two grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Metten; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bros. Roger Cooper and Chris Smith will officiate at the services. Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arrangements.
