COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Dean Anderson, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on June 11, 1941, in Gainesboro, TN to the late Collie Dewey and Ruby Dee Johnson Anderson. He led a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for his family.
Dean began his career as a bulldozer operator and dedicated many years of his life to Civil Construction, retiring as a foreman. His expertise and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of those he worked with. Dean was a man of integrity who approached his work with determination and pride, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to others.
In addition to his professional life, Dean was an active member of the Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church, where he found community and connection. He enjoyed various hobbies, with fishing, gardening, and watching car races being among his favorites.
Dean Anderson’s legacy will be cherished by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edith Ann Anderson, and their daughter, Linda Joyce Anderson-Pompell, along with her husband Terry. His memory will also live on through his granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Pompell, who held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Sue Anderson Carr, and brothers Roy David Anderson and Robert Joe Anderson; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his his grandsons, Matthew Steven Pompell and Curtis Lee Pompell; and his siblings, Collie Dewey Anderson, Jr., Charles Denny Anderson, Alfred Ray Anderson, Loyd Denton Anderson, Carl Lee Anderson, and Charlene Anderson.
Funeral Services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 11:00am, Friday, December 13th from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Homes with Pastor Maston Jackson and Harold Ralph Maynard officiating.
Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery with Terry Pompell, Russell Watts, Phillip Henley, Roy Anderson, Jimmy Henley and Michael Sparks serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-7pm, and again on Friday from 10am until time of service at the funeral home.
Dean Anderson will be remembered not only for his contributions to his profession but also for the love he instilled in his family, the friendships he fostered throughout his life, and his unwavering faith. His presence will surely be missed by all who knew him.
